Big Give 2026 volunteer sign up will go live on October 21st by 5 pm! Mark your calendar!

We need dedicated volunteers to support Big Give 2026 on Sunday, November 22nd. Join us and help to provide a Thanksgiving meal to more than 4,000 community members experiencing food insecurity.

Key details:

• Big Give volunteering is open to active Karsh Center volunteers, Wilshire Boulevard Temple members, and Big Give sponsors. 
• Volunteers must be ages 7 and up, and volunteers ages 7-15 must volunteer with a parent/guardian (who is also signed up). 
• There will be two Big Give volunteer shifts: a late morning shift that will include set-up and launch of Thanksgiving meal distribution, and an early afternoon shift that will continue Thanksgiving meal distribution and include clean up. So that everyone has a chance to participate, volunteers should sign up for one shift and stay to support for the entirety of that shift.
• In addition, this year’s Big Give will include an opportunity for volunteers to sign up to prepare sandwich lunches for our collaborator, The People Concern. Each year, Karsh volunteers prepare more than 10,000 lunches to help feed those experiencing hunger. 

IMPORTANT:

In order to sign up to volunteer for the Big Give, you must first have a Volunteer Impact account. Get a jump on things and create your account here – it should only take a couple minutes. Each volunteer in your household must have their own account.

If you already have a Volunteer Impact account, but have not logged in recently, we suggest you log in to your account prior to Big Give sign up going live on October 21st in case you require a password reset.

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER FOR BIG GIVE 2026:

• Log in to your Volunteer Impact account here.
• Select “OPPORTUNITIES” from the top menu bar, and then select “Opportunity Calendar”.
• From the Calendar, select the Big Give shift you would like to volunteer for on November 22nd and review the details provided in the pop-up window.
• Select the “Sign Up” button in the bottom right corner of the pop-up window.
• If you would like to confirm your sign up, select “SCHEDULE” from the top menu bar to display volunteer shifts for which you have signed up.

–  On-Site Wellness & Safety Protocols –

All on-site activities will be conducted according to the Karsh Center’s on-site wellness and safety protocols. All registered volunteers are expected to follow these protocols.

Prepare Winter Hygiene Kits, Children’s Activity Kits, and Super Snack Bags

Set-up a Big Give-style assembly line in your own home and prepare winter hygiene kits and super snack bags to bring some warmth to our neighbors who are unhoused, and children’s activity kits to help the youngest members of our community have some extra fun this holiday season. Kit drop-off will take place after Thanksgiving this year, so you can include kit-making as part of your holiday celebration!

Before dropping off the completed kits, please make sure to register here. Kit drop-off will take place at the following locations and times:

• Karsh West/Wilshire Resnick Family Campus (Brentwood):
  • Monday, 11/30 – 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday, 12/2 – 9:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Thursday, 12/3 – 9:00 am- 2:00 pm
  • Thursday, 12/3 – 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

  Karsh Center/Wilshire Glazer Campus (Koreatown):

  • Wednesday, 12/2 – 9:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Wednesday, 12/2, 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
  • Thursday, 12/3 – 11:00 am- 4:00 pm

Please register for kit-making is required. Please complete this Google form so that we can keep you informed about any updates for this project, including drop-off procedures, as well as updates about where the kits are distributed and how they are used!
