Bankruptcy Clinic

Fridays, twice a month

The Public Counsel runs a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Self-help Clinic twice a month at the Karsh Center. This clinic teaches individuals the complete process of filing for bankruptcy.

All clients are pre-screened and scheduled through the Public Counsel’s Self Help Desk. Call 213-385-2977 x704 or visit the Bankruptcy Self Help Resources Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m.-noon and 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the L.A. Federal Building (300 N. Los Angeles St., Room 1220, 1st Floor).

Loan Screening and Application

Mondays, 9:00 – 11:00am

The Jewish Free Loan Association offers interest-free loans on a nonsectarian basis to individuals and families whose needs are urgent and who may not qualify through regular financial institutions.

Appointments are preferred. Walk-ins are accepted but not guaranteed. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call the Karsh Center.

Types of loans: General, Veteran, Student, Home Healthcare, Small Business, Green Loan Program, In Vitro Fertilization, Women and Children in Crisis, Jewish Life Cycle Events, Children with Special Needs, Summer Camp, Adoption Assistance, Israel Experience Loan Fund.

KABA Legal Clinic

2nd Tuesday of the month, 6:00-8:00p.m.

The Korean American Bar Association (KABA) runs a general legal aid clinic, with services provided in Korean. No appointment required.

Tax Preparation Clinic

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help who generally make $55,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. VITA program is offered during tax season.
