This week, the Karsh Center participated in an exciting new pilot program in partnership with Para Los Niños and Via, a rideshare company, delivering groceries to those in need who cannot otherwise make it to the Karsh Center or other food sources due to the COVID-19 crisis as a part of the Best Start Program, an initiative funded by First 5 LA.
The setup is simple – Para Los Niños identifies the clients, the Karsh Center provides the food and packs the bags, and VIA hires the driver, who picks up the food (or diapers and other hygiene supplies) at the Karsh Center and delivers it to the client’s door. Contactless service for the COVID-19 era – but an act involving three organizations committed to making a real difference for all of those made more vulnerable by this crisis.
Over the coming weeks, this pilot will continue to bring essential supplies to people who need them, and we look forward to building on this new model of service as a way to not only help more people, but to do so in collaboration with more organizations, private and public alike. This is a model for the future – the Karsh Center is just getting started.
